Introduction
Trend Micro™ Longevity for Android is a simple app for maximizing
your smartphone’s battery life.
The FREE version includes:
- Just-a-Phone Mode lets you switch off power draining features not required for making calls with a single tap.
- Power Hog Pie Chart and App List gives you a simple view of what drains the battery the most.
- Running Apps Optimizer improves the performance of the phone to prolong the battery's life.
- Full Charge Counter shows the state of the phone's battery.
The PREMIUM version includes all the free features, plus:
- Premium Just-a-Phone Mode lets you customize how the app behaves by setting up automatic responses based on how much power you have left.
- Smart Power Saver switches off power-draining features when you don't need them.
- Power Hog App Scan
uses the Trend Micro Mobile App Reputation Database to warn if a
particular app will drain the battery so that you can remove it
immediately.
- A Longevity Widget appears on the home screen so that you can quickly access everything that Longevity can do.
- Low Power Alerts show which apps have drained the battery the most so that you can quickly take action.
- Fully Charged Alerts let you know when your phone has finished charging.
- Fast Drain Alerts let you know when your battery has started draining very quickly.

Basics
Trend Micro Longevity has three tabs to help you save battery power.
- Status: This tab shows how much
battery time you have left. You can also easily switch Just-a-Phone
Mode on or off, open the Smart Power Saver, or check your Power Savings
Report.
- Power Hogs: This tab shows what
uses the most power. You can also quickly turn apps or services (like
Wi-Fi) on or off.
- Premium: This tab shows features available only in the Premium version of Longevity.

Optimize the Battery
Optimize with the Free Version
To make your battery last longer using the free version, follow these steps:
- Open the Power Hogs tab.
- Look over the pie chart and tap the app or service using the most power.
- Move the slider beside the app or service to the left.
- Tap the item's icon beside the pie chart icon (top right).
- Tap the settings icon beside the Running Apps Optimizer button to
add apps to the Approved Apps List.
- Tap Running Apps Optimizer
to shut down apps not on your Approved Apps List.
Optimize with the Premium Version
To make your battery last longer using the premium version, follow these steps:
- Go to the Status screen.
- Tap Smart Power Saver.
- Make sure that a green check mark appears beside Enable Smart Power Saver.
- Tap the Back button.

Power Saving Recommendations
To get the most out of Longevity, follow
these steps:
- Tap the Power Hogs tab and take a look at what uses the most power. You might want keep some
apps or services running even if they use a lot of power.
- Tap the item list icon beside the pie chart icon (check the top right part of the screen).
- Tap the settings icon, beside the Running Apps Optimizer button, to
add apps to your Approved Apps List.
- Tap Running Apps Optimizer
to shut down apps not on your Approved Apps List.
Longevity shuts down all apps not on the Approved
List when optimizing the battery. To keep an app running,
tap Add apps to Approved List.
- If you bought the Premium version of the app, tap the Premium tab and make the changes shown below.
- Under Premium Just-a-Phone Mode, make the following changes:
- Set a
schedule to activate Just-a-Phone mode automatically with Auto Activate, and set the Auto Activate Threshold.
- Switch off 3G/4G.
- Switch off Wi-Fi.
- Switch off Bluetooth.
- Switch off Auto-Sync.
- Stop any running apps you
have not approved.
- Reduce the screen brightness.
- Use the Sleep feature.
- Under Smart Power Saver, make the following changes:
- Switch on Standby Saver, so that Wi-Fi, 3G/4G, and Bluetooth will shut down automatically if nobody uses the phone.
- Switch on Wi-Fi Saver,
so that Wi-Fi will shut down automatically if you have not connected
with a network to avoid draining power by searching for one.
- Switch on the Power Hog App Scan.
- Switch on the Longevity Widget.
- Choose
any setting other than Do not alert me for the Low Power Alerts.
- Switch on the Fast Drain Alerts.

Status
Battery Status
The battery status icon shows how much power your battery has left
and how much longer you can use your Android phone. Tap the battery status icon to see detailed information about your
battery.
Just-a-Phone Mode
Just-a-Phone mode can help keep your Android phone going much longer. It
automatically shuts down everything but the most essential features and
directs you to switch off your GPS and location services, if your phone has them.
If you switch on Just-a-Phone mode, any actively running apps will shut down after 10 minutes.
Smart Power Saver
Smart Power Saver takes all the work out of saving power on your device by letting you set Smart Standby and Smart Wi-Fi.
Power Hog App Alerts
Power Hog App Alerts announce when something starts draining your
battery too quickly. This feature uses the Trend Micro Mobile Application Reputation to check the power usage of apps on
your device.

Power Hogs
The Power Hogs tab shows what uses the most power on your
device by checking your apps
against the power consumption records of hundreds of thousands of apps
in the Trend Micro Mobile Application Reputation database. You can use this information to help decide how to optimize
the battery.

Premium Version
The Premium version of Longevity offers the following special features:
- Premium Just-a-Phone Mode lets you customize how the app behaves by setting up scheduled tasks
and automatic responses based on how much power you have left.
- Auto Activate lets you set a schedule to activate Just-a-Phone mode automatically.
- Auto Activate Threshold lets you set conditions to activate Just-a-Phone mode automatically.
- Switch off 3G/4G helps you save power by shutting down your cellular data connection.
- Switch off Wi-Fi helps you save power by shutting down your wireless Internet network connection.
- Switch off Bluetooth helps you save power by shutting down your Bluetooth capability.
- Switch off Autosync helps you save power by preventing your phone from synchronizing data.
- Stop any running unapproved
apps helps you save power by shutting down apps you have not approved.
- Screen brightness helps you save power by reducing the brightness of your phone's screen.
- Sleep helps you save power by shutting down power-draining features when the phone goes into sleep mode.
- Smart Power Saver switches off power-draining features when you do not need them.
- Standby Saver makes Wi-Fi, 3G/4G, and Bluetooth shut down automatically if nobody uses the phone.
- Wi-Fi Saver makes Wi-Fi will shut down automatically if you have not connected
with a network to avoid wasting power by searching for one.
- Power Hog App Scan uses the
Trend Micro Mobile App Reputation Database to warn if a particular app
will affect the battery so that you can remove it immediately.
- Longevity Widget appears on the home screen so that you can quickly access Longevity features.
- Low Power Alerts show which apps have drained the battery the most so that you can quickly take action (choose any setting other than Do not
alert me).
- Fully Charged Alerts let you know when your phone has finished charging.
- Fast Drain Alerts let you know when your battery has started draining very quickly.
